To celebrate the launch of Adobe Creative Suite CS5 we’ll be running a special CS5 Event. Come along and see us demonstrate many of the new features across the applications.

Whether you use Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Acrobat, Fireworks, Illustrator, InDesign or any of the other applications in the Suite, if you’ve got questions, want information about what’s included in each variation of the Suite or just want to see the new versions of your most frequently used applications, please join us on 15 April.

Review

A new version of Adobe’s Creative Suite is always greeted with enthusiasm by Elaine and CS5 is no different. The NWIITT chatroom was full of people keen to learn about the latest incarnation of the Suite and they weren’t disappointed.

Elaine started by taking us through the different versions of the Suite – Design Premium, Design Standard, Web Premium, Production Premium and Master Collection. So whether you’re a web designer, graphic designer or print designer, there’s something for everyone.

As a participant in the Beta programme, Elaine had had access to the software for a while and although I was aware of some of the new features, I’d not actually seen them in action.

Although Elaine covered quite a few features of the applications, the highlight of the night was undoubtably Content Aware Fill – a new feature, in fact I’d go so far as to say the killer feature, of the whole suite. Instead of replacing removed elements with a solid colour it looks at the pixels surrounding the selection and attempts to calculate what would have been there if the item hadn’t been there. You can see this in the pictures below where the yellow parking bay lines have been removed.

Another great example of Content Aware Fill is shown here. Elaine used it to remove the flagpoles and lamp post from the photograph.

Thanks to everyone who attended. Hope you all enjoyed it – I did!
